ASML QEW Safety Training Program
This a private course developed for ASML to train qualified electrical workers (QEW) for work on ASML sites, as well as customer sites. Training will be in accordance with applicable US Standards, Global Standards, and ASML Policy.
If you are an ASML employee in need of completing the course curriculum Login Information will be sent to you through email communication.
The objective of this training program is to provide ASML employees with the required safety training to be considered a QEW.
The QEW Training is divided into several Sections – Live Presentation, Video training, Company Materials, and Testing. This can all be accomplished in 4-6 hours in one sitting, or you can take your time on the Video and Testing. The live presentation will be schedule for a set time and date and covers the main principles and topics to be considered a QEW, helping you understand electrical safety in theory as well as put into practice. The videos wrap up all the topics in quick 15 min summaries, and the test ensures that the material covered is understood. This combination allows workers to check the compliance box for up to three additional years.
The main lesson is taught in a live format hosted by a qualified EDS trainer in order to suffice OSHA, NFPA, and IEC requirements.
Course Goals and Scope
Competence of personnel working on ASML machinery is necessary. The potential for accidents is increased if personnel are not competent. The need for competence is included in many legal documents (legislation), but is often not clearly defined. Competence includes the ability to carry out specific tasks versus prescribed general requirements specified in regulations and installation procedures.
Competence depends on knowledge, skill, experience, attitude and training. Measurement of competence is a difficult task and requires specific assessment methods. Competence evolves with years and may deteriorate, so continued training and assessment is necessary.
Even the best rules and procedures are not effective unless all persons working on, with, or near electrical installations are thoroughly conversant with them and with all legal requirements and comply strictly with them.
This course applies to the protection of persons against electric shock. The intent is to give fundamental principles and requirements which are common to electrical installations, systems and equipment or necessary for their coordination, without limitations with regard to the magnitude of the voltage or current, or the type of current, and for frequencies up to 1000 Hz.
